Aurélia Aurita was born in 1980 in the Paris area. Parallel to
her studies, she began a career as a cartoonist, publishing her first
short stories in Fluide Glacial. Angora, a short
album both sensual and unsettling which appeared in 2001, immediately
caught the attention of the critics. In October 2004, she was invited
along with such esteemed authors as Jirô Taniguchi or Emmanuel
Guibert to participate in the Japan anthology, published
simultaneously in 2005 in French by Casterman, in Japanese by
Asukashinsha and in five other languages. It was her first visit to the
Archipelago. And then it was love at first sight. Now a doctor in
pharmacy, Aurélia Aurita hasn't left Tôkyô since.
This is where she worked with the greatest discretion on her startling
book, Fraise et Chocolat.
First published in French in March 2006 and then in two other
languages, the book received extraordinary public and critical
acclaim... |
